Helthcare Vs. Disease Care.

Health Care Vs Disease Care

We all take our cars in for routine maintenance. You get your tires aligned and have your oil changed because you don’t want to deal with the negative consequences (and costs!) of what will happen if you neglect these things. Yet when it comes to our own bodies, many of  us adopt a different philosophy.

We do not take the necessary proactive steps towards optimal health (exercise, proper dietary habits, chiropractic checkups). When our body eventually does break down on us we look to modern medicine to cure our years of neglect, often through the use of drugs or surgery. This is a DISEASE CARE model of thinking.

In order to stay out of this vicious cycle, we must switch our focus. We must stop treating what we don’t want, DISEASE, and start promoting what we do want, HEALTH.

Chiropractic works naturally with your body to restore proper function of the nervous system. To learn more about chiropractic care and other ways of naturally promoting health.

Chiropractic Care -Every function of your body is controlled by your brain. It sends messages down through the spinal cord and out to all parts of the body. The spinal cord is so important that it is protected by 24 moveable bones called vertebrae.

There is a condition known as vertebral subluxation that can interfere with this communication. A subluxation is when a vertebra comes out of alignment. When this occurs, it generates mechanical stress in the area, including inflammation of the soft tissue around the spine. This inflammation can put pressure on the delicate nerves exiting the spinal cord and create interference in the communication between mind and body. Chiropractors find these areas of misalignment and correct them using a gentle adjustment. Once alignment is restored the pressure on the nerve is relieved, and your body can now communicate as it was meant to.

Exercise:

There are NINE CHARACTERISTIC CHANGES that occur to all of our bodies as we age. They are:

1. Loss of Muscle Mass

2. Decrease in Strength

3. Decrease in Basal Metabolic Rate

4. Decrease in Aerobic Capacity

5. Increase in Blood Pressure

6. Loss of Normal Insulin Action

7. Decrease in Circulating HDL to Total Cholesterol Ratio

8. Loss of Bone Density

9. Decreased Ability to Control Body Temperature

EXERCISE is effective at reversing every single one of these changes. You’ve heard the expression”If you don’t use it, you lose it!” The same holds true for your body. Meditation and Breathwork

Fact: 90% of ALL DISEASE is either caused by or complicated by……STRESS! We all have stress in our lives. One of the most effective ways of relieving stress is through meditation and breath work.

Exercise: Try this simple breathing exercise the next time you feel stress creeping up on you

1.) Take a deep breath in through your nostrils while counting silently to SEVEN. Be sure to allow your belly to expand and take the air deep into your diaphragm.

2.) Hold that breath in while you silently count to seven.

3.) Purse your lips together and slowly exhale through your mouth while counting to seven.

4.) Repeat entire cycle 3 more times.
